For most Airbnb hosts, Hospitable is the strongest all-in-one AI guest messaging tool, and HostBuddy AI is the best add-on if you already run a PMS. Guesty ReplyAI and Hostaway AI suit larger portfolios, Jurny suits 15 or more units, and Besty AI leads on upsells. The real decision is whether the AI drafts for approval or sends unattended.
Transparency: Zugrow publishes this page and Zugrow is one of the tools compared. We have kept it factual and flagged where a rival is the better fit.
Almost every comparison of these tools skips the two questions that actually matter. First, is the software sending scheduled templates on a timer, or is it reading the conversation and writing a reply that fits? Second, does it hand you a draft, or does it press send while you sleep? Those two answers decide whether a tool saves you an hour a week or twenty, and how much risk you carry when it gets something wrong.
Which AI guest messaging tools are worth comparing in 2026?
Six tools cover most of the real market, plus Zugrow. Three are full property management systems with AI built in. Two are AI layers that sit on top of a PMS you already pay for. One is an AI-native platform aimed at larger operators. Here is where each genuinely fits.
What is the difference between automated messages and AI guest messaging?
Automated messages are scheduled templates. They fire on a trigger such as booking confirmed or check-in tomorrow, and they say the same thing every time. AI guest messaging reads the actual thread, the reservation and your property notes, then writes a reply to the specific question asked. Most hosts need both.
This matters because the two get sold under the same word. A tool advertising "AI automation" may in practice be doing scheduled sequences with a small AI assist on top. Scheduled messages are excellent at what they do. They handle the predictable bulk of the stay timeline: confirmation, directions, door code, checkout reminder. They are cheap, dependable and never hallucinate.
What they cannot do is answer "the boiler is making a noise and we have a baby with us, what should we do". That is where AI earns its keep, and it is a much smaller share of your outgoing messages than vendors imply. We have published a longer breakdown of that split in our guide to the best tools for automating Airbnb guest communication.
Should the AI draft your replies or send them without you?

Draft-first is safer and slower. Send-first is faster and carries real risk: a wrong door code, a promised refund, a rule contradicted. Most tools now offer both. Hospitable, Hostaway and Guesty all default to drafting, and Guesty lets you set the confidence threshold at which the AI is allowed to send on its own.
We will argue the suggest-first case, and then be honest about what it costs you.
The case for it is simple. Guest messages are not equal. A Wi-Fi question is low stakes. A refund request, an early check-in that clashes with a cleaner, a complaint that could become a one-star review, and any message about money are high stakes. An AI that sends unattended treats those the same way it treats the Wi-Fi question, unless you have carefully fenced it off. When it gets one wrong, you are not correcting a draft, you are apologising for something a guest has already read. On Airbnb there is no unsend.
The cost is real too. Suggest-first needs a human. Somebody has to open the app, read the draft and press send. Your response times are worse than a competitor running full autopilot, and at 3am the draft simply sits there. If you are managing 40 units across time zones with no night cover, draft-only is not a policy, it is a bottleneck. That is a legitimate reason to choose Jurny or HostBuddy autopilot over a cautious setup.
The sensible middle, which the better tools now support, is autonomy by message type. Let the AI send the boring ones unattended. Make it queue anything touching money, cancellations, complaints or house rules. Guesty's category and sentiment restrictions are the clearest expression of that idea in a shipping product today.
How much of guest messaging can AI actually handle?
Less than the marketing suggests, and the honest number is worth knowing before you buy. Across a 24-property UK portfolio running on the early access Zugrow PMS, 9,064 guest messages arrived over 30 days. Of 5,726 outgoing messages, 85% went out automatically on that early access PMS. The early access AI drafted 2,160 of them, about 38%. A person still typed 15% by hand.
Read those numbers carefully, because they contain the whole argument.
- 85% automatic does not mean 85% AI. The majority of that volume is still scheduled, templated, timeline messaging. The unglamorous stuff carries the load.
- The early access AI drafted roughly 38% of outgoing messages. That is the genuinely contextual slice, the replies that had to read the thread.
- 15% was typed by a human. On a portfolio that is continuously tuned by the person who built the software. Any vendor promising you zero is selling you something.
That last figure is the one to plan around. Budget for a human on roughly one message in seven, and every tool on this page becomes a good deal. Expect to disappear entirely and you will be disappointed by all of them. The portfolio behind these numbers is documented in our write-up of running 24 properties.
Which tool should you actually choose?

Match the tool to your situation rather than to a feature list. Four common cases cover most hosts, and in three of them a competitor is the better answer than us.
- One to ten properties, no PMS yet. Hospitable. It is the most complete single purchase, the AI is properly wired into your listing data, and drafting is the default.
- You already pay for a PMS and only messaging is broken. HostBuddy AI. It writes into the inbox you already open, so there is no migration and no second login.
- Fifteen units or more, running as a business. Jurny if you want agents handling operations as well as messages, Guesty with ReplyAI if you need the enterprise reporting and want to tune autonomy carefully.
- Upsell revenue is the goal. Besty AI. It is built around that, and a pure messaging tool will not match it on that job.
Zugrow is the answer only if you specifically want the per-agent Off, Suggest or Auto dial in the early access PMS and the design rules behind it, and you are content to join the waitlist. The full Zugrow PMS is early access and access is by waitlist, with hosts onboarded in waves, so if you need software live this week, pick one of the six above instead. You can see the early access plans and join the waitlist on the Zugrow pricing page.
Two Zugrow things you can buy or use today, with no waitlist: the free Airbnb listing score, a 100-point audit of a live listing in about 60 seconds with no signup and no card, and the digital guidebook at GBP 2.95 a month with a two-week trial. A good guidebook is one of the cheapest ways to cut message volume, because the questions it answers never reach your inbox.
How we assessed this
Descriptions come from each vendor's own documentation and support pages, checked in August 2026. We deliberately publish no competitor prices, ratings or customer counts, because those change without notice and a wrong figure here would mislead you. Where a tool's autonomy behaviour is described, it is taken from that vendor's own help documentation rather than a review site.
The operating figures are from a single 24-property UK portfolio running on the early access Zugrow PMS over one 30-day window. That is one portfolio, in one country, in one season. It is a real measurement rather than a projection, but it is not a study, and your ratio of AI to human will differ with your property type, your guest mix and how much your guidebook already answers.
We have not run every tool here side by side for a full season on identical properties. Nobody has. Treat any page claiming it did with suspicion.
